Mechanical Seal can be used to stop approximately 100% leakage of fluids through rotary shaft and it includes a wide ranges of Mechanical Seals like rubber mechanical seals, conical mechanical seals, spring mechanical seals, waves mechanical seals, metal mechanical seals, teflon mechanical seals, stationary mechanical seals etc. It can also helps in energy conservation which is lost due to heat of friction in case of gland packings. It eliminates usages of gland packings which reduces leakages rather than stopping. One drop leakage per second amounts appx. 6000 liters per year is the standard rate for a properly adjusted packed glands which usually gets worsed with the time.
