Five conditions to review

A material family name alone does not establish suitability. These conditions help frame the discussion; you can begin with a question without completing the whole list.

  1. 01

Media: identify the sealed fluid or gas, concentration, mixtures, additives and cleaning agents where known. These details help define the exposure against which material evidence needs review.

  2. 02

Temperature: describe normal, minimum and peak temperatures, their duration and any cycling. A single temperature value does not describe the full service history.

  3. 03

Pressure and motion: share normal and peak pressure, cycling, and whether the seal is static, reciprocating or rotating. Material questions need to be considered together with the mechanical and sealing arrangement.

  4. 04

Dimensions and structure: provide available seal dimensions, gland details, clearances, drawings or assembly information. Geometry and installation can affect which material directions need consideration.

  5. 05

Documentation and project requirements: describe required material records, declarations, cleanliness or validation needs. The scope and availability of any document must be checked for the specific material and product.

02 / REVIEW DIRECTIONS

How material options are reviewed

01

Organize the known application conditions and identify missing information without assuming values.

02

Review available evidence for the specific compound or grade against those conditions, including geometry and installation constraints.

03

Identify candidate material directions and the information or application-specific checks still needed. A candidate is not a final suitability guarantee.

This page is not a chemical-compatibility database or an automatic material recommendation. Suitability depends on the specific application information available.
